Residents of the district including men, women and children, took out a candle march in the main Bhagat Singh market on Monday evening, protesting against the nuclear power plant proposed at Gorakhpur, Fatehabad. A joint front of various organizations took out the march. The protesters were shouting slogans and holding candles in their hands.

"If a country like Japan cannot be assured about nuclear power plant protection, how can the state government led by chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda assure proper protection of Gorakhpur nuclear power plant? We have been holding a dharna over the past days, but till now, no official has bothered to pay heed to our appeal. We will not let government acquire a single inch of our agricultural land for this nuclear power plant," said kisan sangharsh samiti head Hans Raj Siwach.
