What does America smell like? How about vanilla, redwood, and blueberry scone. Yankee Candle, the Deerfield company that styles itself as the last word in scented candles, says it has just launched a new limited edition Patriotic Candle Collection in honor of America, and redwood and blueberry are some of the fragrance notes featured in the new product line.
Read the company press release, and one hope seems to be that the new collection will evoke hometown deja vu in military personnel and families stationed overseas. Candles in the collection display a red-white-and-blue theme as well as fragrances that include such grace notes as cooked apples, cinnamon, brown sugar, blueberry scone, and "redwood softened by wild petals and vanilla."
"Our military customers often share that Yankee Candle fragrances provide them with the comfort of home when they are so far away," company chief executive Harlan Kent said in a statement. To help make overseas military housing more of a comfort zone, Yankee Candle said that it is offering a 10 percent discount to all military families now through June 7.
